I often get throughputs over 15 MB/sec. This is fine for us. I would not
be happy if I was getting throughputs that were 1/10 that.

Do you have gigabit network cards? You can get them for under $20 easily.

Are you using SATA drives in your system? Drives are cheap.

Do you have CAT6 cable?

Are you upgraded to the latest version of Linux and BackupPC? I noticed
wonderful improvements after upgrading.
