I want to backup a laptop. It is connected most of the time over wifi, but sometimes I connect it over cable. However, the main question: The backups over the cable are obviously faster, but for incrementals, it is not that big issue. Is it possible for backuppc to check the connection mode and set full backups when it is on wire only?
You could give the laptop two IP addresses - one for wired connection and one for wireless - and use different configurations for what the BackupPC processes will consider to be two different machies. The two different configurations would tell BackupPC how often to back up, and which type of backup to use (full or incremental). It doesn't matter that you'll have two sets of data for the same machine, and it doesn't matter that most of the time one of the two will be inaccessible. -- 73, Ged. _______________________________________________ BackupPC-users mailing list BackupPC-users@lists.sourceforge.net List: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users Wiki: http://backuppc.wiki.sourceforge.net Project: http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
