Hi,
as far as I got it you will be able to identify the files by checksum. I am not certain about the following steps but as a rough sketch it should help.
You might look for a file in a to-be-deleted backup under the pc/-tree.
Once identified use the checksum (afair it‘s name or content) you will have to look for corresponding files under (c)pool in a directory tree consisting of the first parts of the checksum an the file with the checksum‘ed name. The later one should be deleted once the backup gets deleted AND no other files with same checksum exists in other backups.
It should be possible to write a short script finding orphaned files or do a match for a specified file.

Hi everyone,
I'd like to pull your attention to this ticket on Github
(https://github.com/backuppc/backuppc/issues/427) where people –
including myself – are claiming that their pool/cpool isn't going
down in size anymore with version 4.x after hosts or old backups
are removed.
E.g. removing a host with 99Gb of unique files (OS images mostly)
would not result in any gained space, even after several Nightly
runs.
Another example: The same hosts being backed up with version 3.x
resulted in a maximum of 430 Gb, but now take up 576Gb with v4.x.
(Not sure though whether these values can be compared?)
Given that, according to threads from about 13 years ago, it's
not possible to determine which hosts are really taking up the
space on disk, we're a little at a loss here with storage running
out on us.
We'd be more than happy for any advice on how to further analyze
this problem.
Thanks,
David
