I'm having fairly regular problems with bacula-sd not mounting tapes either automagically per the Bacula config or via the "mount" command in bacula-console. When the problem occurs, bacula-sd always reports something like the following:
*mount Automatically selected Storage: HP-Ultrium 3001 OK mount. Device=/dev/st0 as opposed to this when it is healthy: *mount Automatically selected Storage: HP-Ultrium 3001 Mounted Volume: IJ-FridayB 3001 Device /dev/st0 is mounted with Volume "IJ-FridayB" In this instance, the IJ-FridayB tape was in the drive the entire time. The only thing that changed was that I stopped and restarted bacula-sd several times via the init scripts. "mt status" looked fine the entire time. I'm also seeing these messages in the logs occassionally: st0: Error with sense data: Current st09:00: sense key Not Ready Additional sense indicates Medium not present st0: MTSETDRVBUFFER only allowed for root. although I cannot correlate their presence with the bacula-sd symptoms via the timestamps. They may be a red herring. It looks to me like the tape labels and the bacula configuration are okay. bacula-sd just doesn't like the tape drive occassionally. Any advice? Are there known problems with HP Ultrium drives and bacula-sd? # cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices: Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 03 Lun: 00 Vendor: HP Model: Ultrium 1-SCSI Rev: N26D Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 -- --- Nathan Valentine, CISSP - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Open Source Technician/Computer Forensics Analyst Venn Technologies, Inc. : http://www.venntech.net
