You have introduced an elegant factor to which Susan alluded as "authorial
intention". Yes, one would refer the sounds, gestures, images in the sand,
dirt or stone to a visible, tactile, aural context or a combination of the
same; or a known and understood mental, emotional, spiritual context that is
understood by both or all parties and accepted as the same in some
fundamental way. For example Jews, Christians, Muslims and Baha'is can
agree that there is one God. Discussions within the parameters of that
context should proceed comfortably apace using any scripture.
