Dear Firestorm,

You write,

":"and the "will to power" (The Will to
Power, # 552) thereby making arbitrary force the determiner of truth. There
is no Archimedean standpoint from which we can decide what is true in and of
itself. "
right, and therefore the One invented darwin, because reality is dynamic,
not archimedean."

Bur don't forget, that Darwin himself becomes the new Archimedean point from
which to judge among contesting views.

As long as we claim that any particular view is true - scientific or
otherwise - we have in practice accepted an Archimedean point as the
touchstone for distinguishing truth from error - and, thereby, implicitly
abandoned relativism.

You write,

":"He conflates the "will to truth" and the "will to power" (The Will to
Power, # 552) thereby making arbitrary force the determiner of truth."
ok. and?? i mean really...and? what is power???"

Because conflating and confusing truth with power means that in the last
analysis, there is no rational way of deciding among viewpoints, and that
when decisions must be made, decisions will be made by force.

Nietzsche knows this which is why for what we translate as "power", he used
the German word "Macht" with its connotations of over-coming and dominating
rather than "Kraft" with its connotations of energy, life-force.

Conflating will to power and truth is part of Nietzsche's life-long
anti-rationalist program.

You write,

":"or in Rorty's
case, "with the desire for solidarity with that community."
i refer you to the Master's and Guardian's comments about the "truth"
inherent in an lsa decision and the "correct" response to such decisions."

You're mixing apples and oranges here.

The LSA decision refers to practical matters, not the interpretation of the
Writings, scientific, historical or logical etc truth. Rorty means exactly
the latter kind of truth.

You write,

":"Notice as well the reference to eternal
truth, another concept that does not work with relativism. "
sure it does. u add the word "apprehendible."
now. to resove the issue u add the idea that maybe the system was Designed,
and the De-Sign-er Is Aware of the system limitation, and Interjected an
Interface,
john 1:1, 2...and u test that Theo-ry"

No. "Eternal verities" are universal truths, i.e. truths that hold in all
times and places and for people in all kinds of situations. This is
precisely what all forms of relativism deny because "truth is relative to
the standpoint of the judging subject." Since the standpoint of the subject
changes over time, and through the ages, truth will vary.

You may add the word "apprehendible" - but Shoghi Effendi, who uses it does
not and just throwing it in would add a meaning he did not intend: otherwise
he would have written it.

You write,

":" Derrida's own statement -
and thus make it impossible to know what he actually means. We cannot know
the truth about this. "
\ yes. so vyou and derrida agree. you cannnot know the truth of a
statement."

We don't agree at all. I only said that if we take Derrida on his own
principles, we can't even know what he wrote - nor can he.

But I don't agree with Derrida - otherwise I would be a deconstructionist. I
think we can know what Derrida is saying and can also know that much of it
is nonsense.

Best wishes,

Ian Kluge
