The Baha'i Studies Listserv without an actual definition of "sect" how could one comment? the beloved Guardian had written on his infallible behalf more/less that hypotheticals didn't have lots of appropriate room in the heads of people commited to dealing with an actual world that is falling apart for the want of the Medicine of Baha'u'llah. but..for the sake of clarity, if one were deem that possibly in some benighted part of the american rustbelt there was some person who stated on random web pages that he knew the meaning of the Text better than the infallible Guardian--or (self-evidently) the Master Who made the appointment. how could such a person actually be part of the Ship sailing through the ocean? obviously, they can be foam on the waves being dragged along...but that is not the Ship. a "sect" (from one of sevveral important words meaning "cut" ) might be if the mast fell such a Ship, and was then floating around somewhere else. put another way, random people might have ingenious if disingenuous ways of explaining why they jumped out of the Ship..but that only says they missed the boat, and nothing about the boat at all.
