I think that David might be thinking of a swimming pool, where one shares the water with others. However, I personally see little more than a superficial similarity between a swimming pool and a public bath. The purpose of a swimming pool is to swim, not to get clean. Presumably, most people bathe or shower after leaving the pool. Mark A.
