Hi All,

It happens again. One of the top bike manufacturers demonstrates that there
is no importance whatsoever to be give to Customer service/Complaints.

The culprit being one of Bajaj Auto’s Probiking showrooms, It so happened
that I decided to replace my bikes Warped Disk from the Sai Service -
Borivli Probiking showroom.(Decided to head there in spite of horrid
experiences in the past as I had an impression that i can buy absolutely
original, Genuine Spares from them).

So on Sunday 28th March 2010 i called the Showroom to check for availability
of the specified part. After being put on hold numerous times, i was finally
transferred to the Spares Shop. I asked if the specified part was available
the rep told me that the disk was in stock and would cost me Rs. 1052/-.

After confirmation from the sales Rep I headed to the Service Centre to make
the purchase but to my annoyance was told the part is not available. When I
reminded them of the conversation I had, and the confirmation of the
availability received from their own representative all they could come up
with was that the Disk was available, but the boxes shipped had not been
opened yet. I hadn’t travelled 20kms on my only off day in the summer heat
to hear this lame excuse. So I decided to talk to the manager in-charge.

I was provided the contact no. Of Mr. Darjee. When i told him about the
situation, he promptly replied that the representative had just confirmed
that the part was available, but not that it was on sale. When I told him it
was not acceptable and i would escalate this further he hung up the phone
mumbling that he would give the necessary replies only after escalation.

Realising that this was the quality of service we come to expect and not
wanting to waste any more of my time I decided to move on, My day was
wasted.

However it was not the incident last Sunday that makes me write this. It is
what happened when I visited the Service Centre again on 2nd April 2010.
This time I called the concerned person, Confirmed once again that the Disk
was on SALE. And headed to Sai Service.

On reaching there the Spares representative provided me the KBX disk, but
with cardboard box torn, and some scratches on the disk, and some paint
chips on the mounting points. I pointed out the same to the Rep who provided
me another one. On careful inspection I realised that one of the disks
didn’t have the KBX logo embossed.

Suspecting the genuinity of the spares, i called for the manager, and was
directed to Mr. Darjee again. When i told him about the problem, with
reference to the incident on Sunday, he accused me of harassment (his
precise words in Hindi being Aap kyon meri Jaan Kha rahe ho), since I
realised he had no intent to help me out, I asked him if i could take
pictures of the two Disk’s, to which he reacted by snatching the disk from
my hand and replying that I escalate the issue to Bajaj and he will answer
the person concerned.

I was already tired of the poor service provided and in no mood of going
spares hunting again, decided to buy the disk which on visual inspection
looked in better shape i.e. the one without the KBX logo.

I know, writing this mail is not going to help improve the standards of
service being provided, nor is it going to solve any troubles I have had
with this particular service centre. However I feel obliged to write this
after the treatment I have been subject to at the hands of Bajaj’s
representatives.

And it is due to this very treatment and insults meted out to me that I have
decided to cancel my plans to buy the 220(My current bike is 4years old and
i was planning to upgrade to the 220),

The reason for writing this if someone cares to ask, If one day some
manufacturer wakes up to realise what went wrong with their sales figures,
this would give them an answer.

The Ultra Budget Tata Nano is being hailed by many as the biggest leap
forward since the Model T Ford. So if they are right, Its more important
than the Mini, More important than the Beetle.More important than mans
conquest of the Moon.

I dont think they are right though, Because the only thing that makes it
stand out is the Low, low price. Brilliant. But i could make a cheap car if
i built it in a factory made of wattle and mud, paid the workers in rice and
motivated them into a 20 hour day with whips and a flamethrower.
