Demo Crazy One day, a friend of mine, a freelance guide was guiding a group of tourists from many countries. Their first destination was the DPRD Bali complex, located in Renon area next to Balis Governor Office complex. It is a huge complex with its elaborately carved buildings, it may more attractive than the Parliament House in Canberra, Australia. Before entering the split gates of the complex, the bus carrying the group of tourists was travelling the Renon area enjoying unfinished monument erected right in the middle of the square. Along the fringe of the square, there were so many people were very busy making money by selling whatever they could afford such as selling peanuts, bakso, sweets, bottled drinks etc. The heat from the sun was scorching. They did not care. They were struggling for survival. In the eyes of tourist, there were very poor or even destitute. This view attracted the group. One of them then was asking: who are they. The guide, firstly, somewhat upset hearing such a question. But he was a real smart guide. He said : well, ladies and gentlemen, those people are who own this country. This is a democratic country. The sovereignty of this country is in their hands. I would say, he said further, as a democratic country the sovereignty is in the hand of the people. Then, the group was entering the DPRD complex. There they came across well dressed people, driving luxury cars such BMW, Toyota Celica, etc. The parking lot of the complex virtually filled with so many cars. The tourists viewing all of these were appalled and asked their guide : who are they?. The guide said :well, as a matter of fact, they are the representative of the people you just encountered outside. In short, they are representing them. They are struggling for the welfare of the people they are representing. what they are doing now here?, the tourist asked further. They may be discussing a mega project, widely known as PLTGU Pemaron, planned to be built in a tourist resort of Lovina, which has been strongly opposed by the local people. The story will not stop there. The saga of PLTGU drags on. Have fun friends. Dwi.
