"Columbe? An instructor?! In what? The art of the graceful surrender?",
Alan exclaims and then convulses into a fit of laughter.
"Yes, it is the truth Major. The Duc was overheard asking about Columbe;
a complete unknown to him socially or otherwise, at his club last week",
replied the Captain, who had just recently been sent up from Paris with a
command of reenforcements to fill in the holes left in the ranks these
last few months.
"Well then I must be sure to look him up for some 'practice' upon my
return to Paris!", said Alan and they both broke into roaring laughter.
