Although there were rumours of His Majesty wishing you to convene such a
meeting, since no mention of this was subsequently made by yourself and
details of such a meeting failed to appear in the Social Calender I regret
that I have now arranged to take Princess Louisa on an extended picnic that
week. I assumed that between your duties at the Ministry of War and efforts
in canvassing your suitability for the post of Minister of State (or rather
canvassing your views regards my unsuitability for the post) you had decided
that you had little time left to host such a meeting, despite His Majesty's
instructions that you do so?
Consequently, I regret that I shall be unable to attend.
