It was your job to bring the rapiers.
It was also your job to arrive with your principal. If he "got ahead
of you", that is not the fault of the Lt. Colonel. If he chose to insist
the duel should start when he arrived, that is not the Lt. Colonel's
fault. It was his obligation in fact to honor the request.
If Lt. Col. Doutron feels nonetheless that you deserve an opportunity
to discuss this matter in more detail, I will be happy to facilitate
arrangements.
