If you can provide suitable references of character, your position as Captain in the 69th is assured, since there are a number of vacancies. Louis, pistoles, Spanish gold or ingots - all these are considered suitable references. Unlike some of the more flatulent, mollycoddling regiments, the 69th does not hand over regimental funds for the benefit of paupers. If you cannot afford the cost of a commission, you are unlikely to be the class of gentleman the regiment requires as an officer, wouldn't you agree? Unshakeable logic, that's the bedrock this unit is founded upon. Always at the thick of the fighting, there you shall find the 69th Arquebusiers.
