Yes, getting hackit up and running is a good test already imho : ) To actually understand the codebase, or a portion of it, would be quite time consuming though, so I think if we decide to move forward at this stage, the best would be to choose a very small task, such as fixing a bug, contract it through vWorker, and ask to comment on the code that Madhavan would have went through to fix the bug.
