Ahah, you still have some time before we end up removing the
minigame. : )

Btw if you're interested helping to improve it, don't hesitate to pass
on ideas. Even better, if you'd like to actually work on it, let me
know. We're recruiting ;p

Many thanks for that - I really appreciate!

The job desc would probably help you. Here is a draft - it's not
finished (we haven't published the ads yet), but it should give you an
idea:

==============

FarSides is an online game studio, producing casual multiplayer free
software games. We are currently developing two games - a secret agent
game played on the Web, and a card game.

We are looking for a Web Developer to contribute to the development of
our games. It's a full time position and it's telecommuting work.
Possibilities of part-time or freelance work.

= The studio =

FarSides is an independent studio, that creates and operates casual
multi-player games, for an adult target. Our games are free software,
and we apply the philosophy and methods to the video game genre. For
example, all the discussions take place within the community, on a
public mailing-list. We also use a decentralized model - which basically
means that we work over the Internet, telecommuting from different
places around the globe.

= Key responsibilities =

      * Develop features for our multiplayer online games
      * Collaborate with all other contributors - game design, art,
        other programmers
      * Follow the mailing-list and the forum discussions, interact with
the community to provide answers and encourage participation.
      * Play the game on a regular basis and interact with other players
to get a permanent feel of the player's experience

= Profile and qualifications =

Must-have

      * Strong development experience with PHP/Ajax/MySQL
      * Proficient with Linux/Apache web hosting server environment
      * Fluent in English and excellent written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively through online medium
(mailing-list, forums), with contributors and community
        members.
      * Confidence in working publicly and discussing issues openly -
participation to an open source project requires a high sense of
        transparency
      * Ability to think creatively and analytically
      * Ability to work with high autonomy - telecommuting requires a
strong sense of self-discipline, proactiveness and taking
responsibility for deadlines. Great attention to detail.
      * Display a positive, professional attitude with strong work
ethics. Able to focus on solutions rather than problems.

Pluses

If you meet those qualifications, we are more likely to hire you -
however, don't worry if you don't: as long as you're willing to learn,
it's ok. We think that a good part what makes a job interesting is how
much you learn while doing it.

      * Knowledge of object oriented development
      * Experience with unit tests
      * Familiarity with our technical requirements
      * Experience with working with online communities, though not
        necessarily professionally
      * Participated to the development of at least one game
(professionally or as a hobby), in a programmer position.
Produced games can be online or offline, but online/multiplayer
        experience a definite plus.
      * Experience in a SCRUM environment

= Employment status =

      * Full time contract (with clauses specific to telecommuting)
      * Possibilities of part-time or freelance work.

No worries talking about money - we try to be as transparent as
possible, so we usually have those discussions on the public
mailing-list if it's ok with the person. The salary/price depends on the
profile, the experience and the local cost of life. The best is to make
a proposition, and then we discuss it.

That would be really perfect, thanks a lot for your help! :D

I've heard that Porto Alegre is the capital of the Free Software
community in Brazil - do you confirm? : )

And great if we could see you in Sao Paolo. : ) Given all the help that
you'll be providing us, if you want we can cover your transportation
costs to SP.

Yup, agreed!

Thanks again,

Xavier.
