Hi, I'm currently testing NDMP backup of a ZFS filesystem under OmniOSCE 151022m. So far I managed to do a successful backup via DUMP to file and also to Tape. :)
Currently while testing restores I noticed that a restore from file is very quick but a restore from tape is taking ages. Even restoring just a few files. I guess this is because Direct Access Recovery is not enabled? In the logs I see the following message on the Bareos server when running a backup job: LOG_MESSAGE: 'Direct Access Restore information is supported' But it doesn't clearly say that it is enabled. On the OmniOS system I checked the ndmp settings and enabled DAR (direct access recovery): ndmpadm set dar-support=yes I also enabled debug logging: ndmpadm set debug-path=/var/log/ndmp ndmpadm set debug-mode=yes this write debug logs to /var/log/ndmp/ndmplog.0 on the OmniOS system. In there I can see messages like: 8/29 11:02:14 DEBUG: [14][get_direct_env_v3:994]:backup default env(DIRECT): YES I assume this means DIRECT ACCESS RECOVERY? In the logs for a restore job I see the following message on the bareos server: 29-Aug 07:57 bareos-dir JobId 231: LOG_MESSAGE: 'DAR is disabled. Running Restore without DAR' So it is not using DAR and therefore the restore is taking ages. So my questions is: Is Direct Access Recovery supported? And if it's not will it be supported in future versions? And besides using tar or dump I read that zfs can also be used as backup type. Is this supported?
