Excellent, thanks! > Also, at least in the guidelines of Ubuntu, it would be preferable > if the package could be in tar.gz format. This is a significant waste of space, if all your sources are stored like this distro-wide, so you may wish to suggest to Ubuntu to support both formats. Just for Barry alone there is a difference of about 335K. I've added a tar.gz file to Sourceforge. If I forget to add it in future releases, just bug me. :-) > Would it be possible to post to the sourceforge files a new source > tarball that would only contain the program and none of the debian/ > directory used for packaging? The diff.gz file is just a patch, and can "fix" anything under debian/ that is out of place just like it fixes the rest of the tree. Not all debian source packages need a diff.gz file. I realize that there will be different changelogs between Ubuntu and Debian, but for the most part, the rest can be very similar. And due to this similarity, I'd really like to have the correct scripts in the Barry tree too. The existing debian/ directory may have issues of its own (I'm no packaging expert), and I'd be very happy to accept patches from downstream to fix them. This way, any diff.gz files you may need should be extremely small. Unless there is some major difference between Ubuntu and Debian packaging that I'm not aware of, it makes sense to share this effort, and I'm more than happy to put the result of that sharing in the Barry tree.
