The fact that command line apps work is a promising first step.

I'd agree with Rick Scott, that it's probably something in your GUI.
Perhaps the GUI apps are not sensing your manual change in resolv.conf?
Is there a way to restart background Konqueror slaves?

Maybe restart KDE while you keep the PPP connection going, to see if that
changes behaviour at all.

I haven't tested with Kppp.

Barry only talks with the pppd daemon and the Blackberry device itself.
It doesn't know anything about TCP or DNS, only passing PPP packets back
and forth.  If there is any interaction with Network Manager, it would
be with pppd, not Barry.
