Apologies, after a very small amount of RTFM'ing I think I understand that WCDMA supports UMTS aka 3/3.5G. HSUPA and HSDPA are uplink/downlink and that I can likely focus on hardware options on the CMU200 and work on upgrading the software as I proceed up the chain of 2G and on.
