That's ramen for you. I've heard the broth described as being like liquid 
butter... and that seems accurate to me.  Though I'm pretty sure it has no 
butter in it.

I always thought of comfort food as stuff that has lots of fat or 
calories. Goes to show how Westernized I am.

Japanese food seems to generally be more healthy.

If you've never tried real ramen, you may not be aware of one of the world's
