Thomas, I ran the tests you had mentioned on a Mac OSX 10.4.2 G5 2.5 GHz Dual Processor, 4 GB SDRAM DDR. Here are the results (for my SVG document in seconds):
Mac: Linear_sRGB_Pre :12 Linear_sRGB_Unpre : 37 sRGB_Pre :12 sRGB_Unpre: 37 sRGB : Throws some exception. Linear_sRGB: Throws exception Java : 1.4.2_07 Batik: SVN Nightly build dated 05-07-13 Thanks, Javid A clever person solves a problem. I still only have access to Mac OS 10.3. Also I noticed the following on a message board that people might try (although I'm unsure how one would use them in an applet): From: http://lists.apple.com/archives/Java-dev/2005/Apr/msg00578.html Note Quartz 2D Extreme is turned off by default in 10.4 (not just for Java) however one can use Quartz Debug to enable it. --- apple.awt.graphics.EnableQ2DX Quartz 2D acceleration is a feature included in Mac OS X v.10.4 for development purposes. It uses hardware acceleration to speed up rendering of simple primitives like images, lines, rects, and simple characters. --- apple.awt.graphics.EnableDeferredUpdates Mac OS X v.10.4 uses deferred drawing updates, which eliminates visual tearing, but blocks those applications that flush too often.
