Sounds tricky. I'll see what I can do about that. Send me more details
if you have any.

Well, they were fixed in 0.12.0-pre2, but that turned out to have a
pretty nasty bug--it looks like it's backing up your data, but if you
ever try to restore from the backup, you're in for a surprise. Then
they were re-broken in 0.12.0-pre3. A couple of weeks ago I submitted a
patch to fix them again in the current CVS, but I don't have commit
privileges on pilot-link and the maintainer hasn't looked my patch over
yet. As I said, if someone needs it urgently then I can help put
together a working version, but otherwise just sit tight until -pre5
comes out.

If you're referring to the delay between when you hit the hotsync button
and when it actually starts syncing, then yes, that's the udev problem.
It's so bad on my machine that my Palm usually times out before the
connection gets established. I'm using the workaround that's
recommended in the redhat bug you cited, namely to create a permanant
device node /tmp/pilot and use that, and just ignore the device created
by udev.

I've had no reports (neither positive nor negative) about SyncBBDB with
these devices, and I don't have one myself. I have communicated with
one user about using a Treo 650 with SyncCM (a PilotManager conduit that
syncs the Datebook). There was a bug in her first Treo 650 firmware
that made it not work; then she upgraded the firmware and it worked for
several weeks... and then one day trashed a whole bunch of her
appointments. I haven't figured out what happened yet, and it's tough
going without a device to test on or a reliable way to reproduce the
bug. So if you have one of these devices and a little debugging
ability, it would be great if you could give it a try, but make freqeunt
backups.
