When you say 'files' do you mean database records/rows? And by
'processing' do you mean updating or inserting into your MySQL
database? If you gave a better or more concrete example of what you
mean it would help.

No, I won't go for that. There are no merits at all in doing things
the hard way. My files are not Everest, they are just files that
need processing. Text can be processed in BBEdit, but the MySQL
front ends of my acquaintance are hopeless at processing text,
however brilliant they may (or may not) be at tinkering with
database parameters.
