Hi all,
BBEdit 8.5.1b4 is now available; as with the previous 8.5.1
betas, this
build fixes reported problems and adds minor refinements.
Here's important information, carried over for the benefit of
those who
didn't see the previous beta announcements:
Note that these are _pre-release_ versions. The intent is
to fix
bugs and address areas of improvement based on what our customers
have reported. However, since the software is at this point not
fully tested, there _may_ be bugs and regressions. If this prospect
makes you nervous, then sticking with the public release
versions is
your best course of action. Nobody will be offended if you
choose to
do so; you're under no obligation to install and use
anything but a
public release. :-)
Following is a summary of the changes in the software since
the last
public release. The change notes are organized into additions,
changes, and fixes, and are annotated where appropriate
with case
numbers. So if you recognize a number corresponding to a support
case that was opened for you, you can now verify that it's been
fixed correctly.
One final note: If you run into a bug in a pre-release version,
PLEASE DO NOT REPORT THE BUG TO THE LIST. This includes
asking about
whether others have seen the same problem. Instead, please
send a
bug report to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and we will deal with it
there. This will help us keep the list discussion on topic and
productive for all list members.

+ [DOC] In file group windows, the "Paste" command is enabled
when there's a "named URL" flavor on the clipboard. (An example
of one way to get this is to use "Copy Link" in
Safari.) When
you paste, an item is created in the file group using
the URL's
name from the clipboard.
Changes
-------
∆ [DOC] URLs in file groups will display the icon of the
application in which they will open if you double-click
on them.
FTP, SFTP and other URLs that BBEdit handles internally will
show the generic "Internet link" icon.
Fixes
-----
- Fixed a third code path where "New (with Clipboard)" would
leave items on the undo stack in the new text document. [65306]
- Fixed a bug where "Copy Name" didn't work in results browsers
or disk browsers. [65268]
- Fixed a bug in which long URLs were displayed garbled
in file
group lists.
- Fixed crash which would occur in some situations when
trying to
use the CSS markup dialogs with malformed CSS "rect(...)"
selector values. [66277]
