Marginally. That is, they must be really good for some purpose; but *you have to name them*. For me, having to bring up a dialog box and type a name is just enough disincentive to keep me from ever using the feature.

I was thrilled when I discovered the "jump" features while browsing the menus recently. They have two features which are almost perfect: an anonymous "set jump point" command, and the fact that you usually don't even have to use it, since if you do a Find that teleports you off to some remote part of your document, you can just jump back again.
