I need an alternative under "Reopen using encoding"
for Central European (ISO Latin 2).

I can do it, through a rather complex procedure:

(1) Use Microsoft Word or some other editor than BBEDIT to add

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
        "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd";>
<html lang="pl">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2">
        <title>Untitled</title>
</head>
<body>

at the top of the document

(2) Then open it with BBEDIT

(3) Then remove the addition made with Microsoft Word to the file

- But why must this be so difficult!!

Reopening with many other character sets are much simpler. Why
not ISO 8859-2 too?
