FWIW, If I'm not mistaken, you can navigate the disk browser with the keyboard and hi Enter to open a document for editing. When doing multi-file search, it not only opens the document but takes you to the found, selected text. It's not what you're asking for, but it might help...

I'd have to strongly agree with this. The read-only Disk Browser has to be the most frustrating thing in BBEdit for me right now. I have File Groups, Disk Browsers, and multi-file windows with document drawers all open at the same time, just to edit and view a couple of web sites, each with its own controllers, models, etc. Each window type has its own unique "anatomy", capabilties, and limitations. Is this level of complexity really necessary, and what is the benefit? An editable Disk Browser window would make things so much simpler and easier -- it's been done elsewhere, and is very effective.

Hi,

Is there a way of making the contents of a window in Disk Browser mode editable, or do I always have to open it into a separate window?

I'd like the former, if possible ;-)
