However, I was hoping that there was a way to make BBEdit allow Tag
Maker to work within my no-partent-tag SHTML pages.
Unfortunately there is not. Tag Maker requires a root element in
order to know which elements are valid for the insertion point. The
special pragma is currently the only way to provide that information
(other than having an actual element in the document.)
It's interesting -- Tag Maker doesn't throw an error until I add
the server-side includes
to the file; until then, Tag Maker will work with a no-parent-element
page. So is BBEdit recognizing the SSI statements but I haven't told
BBEdit where to find them, or something?
BBEdit isn't parsing the SSI statements (at least not as SSI
statements.) Beyond that, it is hard to speculate what might be
happening without seeing the document in question.
