By surgically, I meant changing the setting for existing files in a
way other then going through BBEdit's interface, i.e. finding the per
file setting and changing it from the back-end, maybe modifying some
metadata associated with the file.  In light of Errol's message, it
appears this isn't necessary for achieving what we're after.
