I recently became aware I could see the email addresses of everyone in
this group! I noticed it in the abridged emails I was receiving紀 saw
my own email address in the text. I thought at first that it was
showing it because it knows I'm me, but then I realized I could see
all of yours as well! To test his, go into a thread and click "reply
to author." In the "to" field, you should see (well, you SHOULDN'T,
but you will) the author's private email address. Moderators, please
fix this!

Thank you.

If by "abridged" you mean digest as opposed to individual messages, then there is a need to do that so you can tell who submitted each message. The same goes for individual messages (where each submission gets sent as a separate message). If you are so protective of your email address then either lurk but do not participate (it is participating not just subscribing that exposes your address since most lists do not allow the list of all the subscribers to be queried) or supply a separate address for each list (so if you get mail to that address from anyone except the list you know it has been leaked and can take action). Tagged/Dedicated/Throw-Away addresses are an option in this case (especially if you own your own domain and can create them or have a catch-all address that you filter at receive time).

There are only a limited number of lists where there is a need to hide the submitter's email addresses and they have provisions for that purpose.
