"Save Default <mumble> Window" is for setting the default shape
of a new window of that type; not for remembering the shape of a
window on a per-document basis. So, there's no "having to
manually set it" in operation.
I need to double check, and I can't at the moment, but I was
under the impression that I had implemented automatic saving of
state for documents in 10.0. If not, the previous state
mechanics still apply (except in certain specialized cases,
which can occur when a document is open in multiple windows, and
when a document is opened into a window which already has
documents open in it).
