Not in HTML5, and in any case, inserting the filename is a
particularly bad choice...

That is so. On the other hand if you want tooltips to show in the browser when you hover over an image then you need a 'title=' attribute, and only the other day I found it very useful to put the file name here in a document of 120 images and no text so that I could discover where things were going wrong.
