I cannot assign any umlauts (ö,ä,ü,ß). The keys are misinterpreted (e.g. ^, fl,
‰).
I have filed a bug about this with Bare Bones support and have gotten
confirmation that they could recreate the problem and that it is in the queue
for fixing. I am afraid I don’t have a case number for this, since I seem to
have deleted the reply I got (perhaps I just dreamt it all ;-) .
Kind regards,

Am I understanding well: you want to enter German Umlauts with US
keyboard layout in BBEdit?
I am testing it and it is working. First Alt + u which gives the trema
(? diaeresis ?) and then o or u or a, which gives you ö ü ä. That means
two keystrokes for one German Umlaut.
The Umlauts are also working well with German keyboard layout. I am
switching often to Cyrillic keyboard too, which is working without any
problem in BBEdit.
Only problem with US keyboard: I don't find any ß ? Where is it hidden?
Best greetings to all
