That's precisely the sort of thing I was looking for. The information is
still available, it just *moved*. Instead of making people *hunt* for it,
a *map* would tell them:

"Information Icon line/word/character count information is now at the
bottom of the page"

I don't understand. Previously, when I had a perl script, I could run it
with cmd-R. Still can. But previously the output opened in a window that
was part of the same... group (?) as the source file. By hitting
shift-command-left-bracket, I'd be immediately back in the source file. I
could easily flip back and forth between source and output. But now if I
try to do that, I don't go anywhere because the unix output window is in
its own window group.

I went through all the preferences and didn't find anything that seemed
related.
I checked the "Run" menu item, and saw three options, but they seem to be
associated with *naming * the output. They all put the new window in its
own group.

When I select "New - Text Document" from the menu, I get the "correct"
behavior. The window opens in the current window group. But when I run a
script, the output goes to a separate window group, from which normal
navigation (cmd-option-bracket) doesn't work.

By the way, you guys simply make the best text editor anywhere.

But it's not perfect.

If it were, there'd never be a BBEdit 11. ;-)
