20 sec is loo short for name lookup timeout...
Check the following:
1. Reverse lookup by wu-ftpd itself. Those guys are nowadays pretty
smart...
2. What tcpwrappers are doing?
3. Do you have identd (identification daemon, not inetd) running? If yes -
turn off.
And finally, is wu-ftpd a resident daemon or started by inetd? How
quickly can that be done?
