I've heard good things about Skytel, we use Arch's 2-way solution, which is pretty good as well - I haven't had any problems with missed messages in some time (about 18 months). We also have an answering service answering our hotline 7/24, and they have instructions to keep calling (a specific list of) people until they get a positive response. This helps considerably.
I've gotten asked recently about BlackBerry. Unfortunately, from what I can tell, full interoperability with an existing email system requires Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange. There is an Ericsson phone which supposedly offers access to POP/IMAP4, but I haven't researched it as yet.
