The IEEE802.11 specification says that this error code 1 is for "an unspecified error". Your AP is really being helpful. ;-)
As you are within receiving distance of 2 APs, both of which are on channel 6, you will have problems with interference. You should switch yours to either channel 1 or 11 to reduce these effects. I would do this first.
Secondly, I would install Ethereal and get some additional interpretation of the rejection. If you don't want to do the full Ethereal installation, which is substantial, you can install Kismet, capture some packet data, and E-mail me (privately) the packet file for me to analyze.
BTW, you don't need to disguise your MAC addresses and ESSIDs. For anyone within receiving distance of your network, they are easily captured. For everyone else, they are irrelevant.
