There is something more here then what meets the eye. I run a dv6609 and 
works fine with wireless-2.6 git tree.  If you could pull down the latest
wireless-2.6 git tree and test it. It may be just a bug in stable that 
has not been fixed yet. You may also need to pass pci=routeirq threw 
your bootloader. A full dmesg
will suggest such and does resolve some of the issues with hp's terrible 
design flaw in the bios.
