2.6.18 doesn't support 4318. Try 2.6.22 or 2.6.23 if you want proper functionality. However, it would be good if you tried 2.6.24, 2.6.25 or wireless-dev (with new firmware, of course), as we are having extreme problems with it, and you (from AU, which is outside of the US - what channels can you use in AU?) can help debug it.
