I'm not sure if this is a b43 problem or a Fedora problem.

After the advice given previously, I grabbed a nightly Fedora 13 spin
that has a 2.6.32.2-15.fc13.x86_64 kernel and ran from the live DVD.

going through dmesg it eventually gets to

b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15)
b43-phy0 debug: Found PHY: Analog 6, Type 5, Revision 1
b43-phy0 debug: Found Radio: Manuf 0x17F, Version 0x2062, Revision 2
cfg80211: World regulatory domains updated
and then a list of frequencies
...
some Registered led device: messages

evicefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version.
Please
carefully read all instructions on this website.

Now what's in /lib/firmware/b43 on the live CD is ucode5.fw

When I get the firmware from the web site I get ucode5.fw, ucode13.fw,
ucode11.fw but no ucode15.fw (and other stuff with number 5, and 13)

Now I guess if I did have the firmware it wants, ucode15.fw, I don't know
how to work that in to the live CD - maybe I'd have to install it on the
hard drive, or maybe I have to get the Fedora people to add it to the
build.
