 Is it proven or just a myth from the gnome developers? imo, kde is faster and 
gives you much much more functionality for working on the desktop. one example, 
if you try to overwrite a file KDE notifies you and offers a 'rename' 
option...etc....etc. And Gnome tries to imitate Windows....well haven't done 
pretty much on that either.
