You are right, Its true perhaps. I have also noticed that unzipping/zipping
works a lot faster in gnome. but gnome still lacks the facilities that i
require. I started Ubuntu from Dapper Drake and found it FANTASTIC. the user
interface was so novel and easy that it's simply overwhelming. but sorry to say
couldn't stick to gnome as it has areas that need development, and sometimes
its behavior was funny (like whenever i click on the start menu and it pops up
without the icons; they started coming after a moment). But i must admit that
Gnome Looks More Human (a soft and composed approach), KDE looks a bit
mechanical. however, my first desktop was KDE and with every release of KDE i
saw major developments and i started upgrading to each release and liked it
also. I have found a good distro that is actually ubuntu but based on KDE, it
is 'simply mepis'. anyway, the choice of desktop manager is a matter of
'choice' (the thing windows cannot give you).

ha ha ha, so u like kde graphical effect, please click on the right mouse
button and then refresh, then see what happen, again do this same thing on
gnome . Hope now u will get which one is faster. To test the speed u can do
another thing, run some heavy software (large) like zend-stdio or eclipse,
then u will again get the deffirents.
If qt is stable, why most of the graphical linux tools are developed using
gtk ?????
As much i understand, u better go to windows vista, there u will get some
more facilities there. MVP may tell u more about new vista affect :)
