I think you have downloaded ISO files. If any *ZIP application can handle ISO files, then the icon shows like a ZIP and you can extract that as well.
You cannot boot your computer with the written CDs, because the boot data is a special data belongs into a bootable ISO file. So again you have to burn CDs with the ISO files. Let me know if you don't know how to burn CD/DVD out of a ISO file.
