You know, Merla is right about politics. I tried - joined the local Rural Economic Development Council, only to find out I was one of three growers. The other members were bankers and realtors and planners and marketeers - and, worse, a rep. from the biotech industry! None of them wanted to save the land (of course), they all wanted to develop it in some way! Guess that's why they named it the "Development" council, 'eh?
