I don't know how to balance it all, actually. I don't have any issue with those who want to be more private, I guess - but I don't think that going underground keeps anyone safe, and I do think that going underground inhibits the effort and keeps the numbers of the faithful small. I also think that people critical of us doubtlessly think we're deranged, not dangerous. Actually, I did a Google search on Allan Balliett and didn't find anything inflammatory or even remotely negative (possibly I missed something????).
The charge, Essie, was 'different world view.' You cannot expect people outside of BD circles to put posts to a BD list into any accurate context. It's not possible, especially for Flatlanders.
Again: we are not 'going underground' BD Now! is advertised in several pubications now and, I believe is listed as a resource in a couple of books.
If anything, we are working towards more discourse, for more voices.
All we are interested in doing is making a practical effort to create an environment in which more people are comfortable in sharing in. I see no reason why this should inhibit anyone who wants to talk to a wider audience cannot x-post to SANET, if that appeals to their Jack Hornerism.
In fact, I'm so fed up with this whole discussion that I could offer posters an option of posting individual messages to a public archive or a private archive.
