----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Absent_Minded_Aquarian Message 2 in Discussion Hi! If the code is re-executed within the same AppDomain, and if the compiled code hasn't been pitched (i.e., cleared from JIT cache), it will be reused. Otherwise, the recompilation shall occur. As of v1.0, the CLR, once loaded in a Win32 process, cannot be unloaded. It remains there loaded until the process is terminated. What this means is that while the process remains loaded, so does the AppDomain. Thus, the native code can be reused. In case of a GUI app, the process terminates as soon as the app exits, so the recompilation shall occur. But if a console .NET app is subjected to the same experiment, from the same command prompt, native code reuse shall occur.
