I don't think restarting IIS is a solution for this problem as the problem persists. 
Yes our problem is very similar to the one mentioned in 
http://lists.mysql.com/win32/13736 and we are too using a similiar workaround by using 
the wait_timeout property. The workaround goes fine for now. Yet for the permanent 
solution one query, How can the pooled connections be reused, in the present case it 
is not being reused, new connections are being created. I am using the same connection 
string for all my connections. Set pooling =true and also set the Max & Min Pool size 
values in the connection string.
