Hi
CodeBrain,
Simply
put Satellite assemblies help you keep different resources for different
languages and cultures. Thus depending on the requesting USERLANGUAGE value
from the request object we can pick up the language and culture and display the
resources accordingly.
This
preference can be set
1)
web.config file (globalization attribute)
2)
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture
e.g.
Languages en=English , fr=French.
Culture GB=British ,
US=American
Both
of these together would help to get the correct settings e.g en-US, en-GB. If
the resource manager does not find one for the combination (en-GB) it would try
and look if a sateliite assembly exists for just the language and neutral
culture (en ) and if not then it would pick up the failover or the default
resource assembly.
Currently your decision to go for satellite assemblies should depend on
1) Do
you really need to serve content in multiple languages?
2) Is
there any plan to internationalize the application?
3) How
much content is there?
If there is a lot of static
content then building separate pages would be advisable.
4)
Remember to
investigate
HTML elements (e.g Headings and
Title)
some support
for direction where in we have (right to left) needs to be conditonally
set.
Hope
this gives you and overview. Rest on MSDN
Regards,
Soumitra
