I think that's the wrong direction. I'd prefer that the Bugs Everywhere
developers assemble, and support, versioned release tarballs at some
comfortable intervals.

As the Debian maintainer, I'm not going to track a VCS repository for
code which is never released. Versioned releases from upstream which
have some reasonable expectation of being supported beyond the next VCS
commit is the only sane option, IMO.
